2 Squidgy Gelatinous Eyes

This painting is filled with truth & fantasy. Some of it is identified outright…most of it is not. As with most of my work these days (well…except the dead relative prints…) this painting is all accidental. I choose a color scheme that feels right at the moment…and hopefully that represents something I’d like to look at for a few days and start there. I like a limited pallet to begin with. I put down a wash of paint & go to bed…on and off for the next day I add additional layers…building up darks in some places…dropping down puddles of water to push the color in others. Eventually I’ll sit down and let my eyes blur & see what’s there…an arm, an eye, a tail…then comes the gouache…and the ink…and anything that spills out of my head.
